Crawl Space Encapsulation

PROTECT YOUR FAMILY’s HEALTH AND YOUR HOME

You want your home to be energy efficient, odor free and well-protected. You also want to keep your family healthy and comfortable. Your crawl space (that big smelly cave under your house) is a part of your home even if it’s out of sight and out of mind. An open, vented crawl space is often plagued by high levels of moisture which can lead to mold growth, pest infestations and structural issues.

Studies have shown that as much as 50% of the air inside your home comes from the crawl space area. Due to stack effect, damp, contaminated air from your crawl space could be drawn up into your home’s living spaces. This air could be high in humidity and even possibly carry odors, mold, bacteria, dust mites and other pollutants. These factors could contribute to poor indoor air quality.

The solution? Crawl space encapsulation featuring a Santa Fe dehumidifier can improve health, comfort, save energy and protect your home’s value

ENCAPSULATION PROCESS

  1. First your contractor will inspect the exterior, interior, grading, foundation walls and drainage of your crawl space.
  2. Then, all vents are sealed preventing the outside air from entering your crawl space and the transfer of crawl space air into your living space.
  3. Next, the crawl space is lined with a reinforced polyethylene vapor barrier. A high-quality sump pump is then installed if the space has a history or chance of flooding or standing water.
  4. Finally, an energy efficient, industry-leading Santa Fe dehumidifier is installed to reduce humidity and help make the crawl space less hospitable for fungi, insects and other contaminants that could lead to poor indoor quality.
